I’m hoping to see many of you tomorrow and Saturday at EZ Greens Farm in Mon Bijou.  I’ll be there between 10 and 1 (probably later).  You owe it to yourself to check us out at our new location. We have hundreds and hundreds of orchids and all the orchid growing supplies you need.

We have a beautiful selection of colorful Dendrobiums and many Catasetums with really radical-looking flowers.

I need to say a bit more about these Catasetums.  Win and I have been growing these since March. We actually purchased 250 of these orchids.  We received them in 3” plastic pots and we repotted them all into 4” clay pots.  Then it was daily watering, weekly feedings, and lots of sun. Now these orchids are sending out flower spikes and starting to bloom.  We should have blooming Catasetums for the next 2 months.

I like them for their really unusual flowers and because they grow fast and they are almost bulletproof.  They are tough orchids and they will put on a great, long-lasting flower show every year.

After these Catasetums finish blooming, they will start moving into dormancy.  After a month or so, they will have lost all their leaves and they will rest until after Christmas.  All you do is keep them dry (no water at all) and in a bright location.  Eventually, they will “wake up” and send out 1-3 new pseudobulbs, and the cycle begins again…

So come out to the farm and pick up a blooming, easy-to-grow Catasetum.  They are just $20 each or 3 for $50.  It’s a great way to increase your orchid growing experience.

Happy Orchiding,

Tom and Win
